If you knew how long you have left to live on this earth, would you change anything? Would you live like there was no tomorrow?

Tikker takes this idea literally by providing a watch that makes every minute, down to the second, count. But how does it remind you to live every day in the moment? Tikker actually counts down to your death. Here’s how it works:

The wearer simply fills out a questionnaire, deducts his/her current age from the results, and TIKKER is ready to start the countdown. – Fredrik Colting

Developed by Swedish inventor Fredrik Colting, Tikker has already earned the morbid nickname of the death watch. As Colting puts it, , the watch is built to motivate and inspire people to make every minute count, rather than motivate negativity. He would rather people refer to the watch as a “happiness watch.”
Colting came up with the idea when his grandfather passed away.

The occurrence of death is no surprise to anyone, but in our modern society, we rarely talk about it. I think that if we were more aware of our own expiration I’m sure we’d make better choices while we are alive. – Fredrik Colting

The date on the watch is only an educated guess but offers a perspective to life that most of us should take notice. It’s not really about how much time you have left; it’s what you do with it.
The Tikker project can be supported via Kickstarter.
