What is Long-Term Care?
Long-term care includes services and supports that you or a loved one may need to meet health or personal care needs. Traditional healthcare focuses on the prevention and treatment of medical conditions. Long-term care helps people live as independently as possible when they can no longer manage everyday personal care matters on their own.
Most long-term care is not medical care, but rather assistance with personal everyday tasks, sometimes called Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). ADLs include eating, bathing, dressing and other mobility needs.
